Nicola Shannon is a freelance documentary editor, assistant editor and filmmaker based between Tokyo and New York.

She most recently edited the NHK documentary SUNLINE. She has also worked as assistant editor on projects for Netflix, HBO and PBS, including KEEP SWEET: PRAY AND OBEY and GREAT PHOTO, LOVELY LIFE.

Nicola holds a BA in Journalism from Stony Brook University and was the Global News Intern at the Associated Press bureau in Tokyo in 2018 - a background that continues to inform her instinct for story in the edit room.
